Davao City Tragedy

Mariannet Amper lived in Davao city; this 11 year old girl hung herself. I was reading through the news this morning and noticed an article talking about an 11 year old girl that hug herself, she left a note explaining that she would rather be dead then continue to live in poverty.

As her parents looked through her belongings they found what appeared to be a suicide note, and a wish list, the only thing she wanted was to have the money to buy a bicycle, and for her parents to be able to have job’s so they could pay for her schooling. (more…)

HAPPY NEW YEAR PHILIPPINES

Happy New Years Philippines. I hope all of you that might be reading this will have a wonderful new year’s celebration, and a prosperous 2008. This last year has been wonderful for my wife I, we have launched several on line blogs like this one, and it was the first time my wife was able to travel to the U.S and meet my mother, so as you can tell it was an exciting year.

I also wanted to let all of you know that I have launching several on line stores for those of you that might want to travel the Philippines for a holiday, and enjoy some of the many outdoor sports available. Once again it is the time of year that we spend time with friends, and family celebrating the holiday season. I would like to wish everyone a Marry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

This last year has been very turbulent for me trying to set up this web page, and working full time, I have attempted to provide a diversified view of the good and bad aspects of living in the Philippines along with providing as much factual information without buttering it up to make it look like it is all a bed of roses,.

Getting deported from the Philippines

I was reading one of my favorite blogs today, and the blogger was commenting on the possibility of being deported from the Philippines, and some of the reasons one might be deported.

I know that most of the more common reasons are well known, like committing a crime, overstaying ones visa, but did you realize that insulting a Philippine citizen can get you deported, or loosing your temper, shouting and demanding proper service from a store attendant. (more…)

Making money in the Philippines

Making money in the Philippines is an interesting subject because there is no typical way of doing it for a foreigner. Most foreigners have a retirement / pension that may, or may not furnish the income that is needed to have a comfortable life in the Philippines, I for one do not have this as I am to young to be receiving social security, and did not spend the required 20 years in the military to receive a pension. So I am left with figuring out a way to generate the necessary income to live in the Philippines.

Well I have decided to change the content of this blog to include articles, comments, and news about the Philippines in English, I hope it will better serve any readers out there. When I first started this for my wife to blog on, I thought she would have the time to contribute more often then it will be possible, she is very busy with her church schedule and taking car of the household.

I don’t want you to get me wrong, she will still post articles, and comments from time to time (In togalog), but I will be primary blogger.

Hello all, my name is Steven, I am Rosels husband. I know this blog is suppose to be in tagalog, but I don’t know how to write in tagalog, so I am doing it in English. I just wanted to stop in and wish all of you out there a happy thanksgiving, if you are not familiar with this, it is an American holiday, all the family and good friends gather together to give thanks for what we have, and enjoy. It is a holiday tradition to have a big meal consisting of turkey, stuffing, yams, and some apple or pumpkin pie, I tell you this every thanksgiving I stuff myself to a point of almost not being able to move. I know it is not a good thing for me to do, but I just can’t help myself.

My wife and I are hoping that this blog will become a success, and all of you who decide to drop-in will leave your own comments or views on the subjects’ talked about. So feel free to comment to your hearts desire, because if you don’t, I feel it will lead to trouble for me (the biggest TAMPO you have ever seen) directed at me of course.

Vacation

Last month galing kaming mag-asawa sa amerika at binisita namin ang kanyang mother. First time ko na pumunta ng bansang amerika at akoy namangha sa ganda at high tech ng mga gamit doon, at nasabi ko sa sarili ko na “sana ang Philippines ay pareho rin ng bansang ito”, kahit na alam kong malayong mangyari nangarap pa rin ako na maging katulad nila.

first snow ng buwan ng october ay namalas ko (in my own eyes ) ganon pala ang snow at sobrang lamit sa labas kaya tinanaw ko nalang ang bawat bagsak ng snow sa bintana. nag enjoy ako sa 2 weeks na pag stay namin doon.

Manila Philippines, kung saan ang aking bansa. Sa mga kagaya ko na isang ordinaryong pilipino ay nakaisip na mangibang bansa, at sa kuwait ako napunta. Hanggang sa ngayon ay nandito pa rin ako sa bansang kuwait. Kumpara sa manila ang buhay ko dito ay medyo maalwa kaysa sa pilipinas. Dito ko rin nakilalal ang aking loving husband at dito ay unti-unti kong natutupad ang aking mga pangarap sa buhay.
